モマのプリント、イラスト出版物部門の企画による展覧会。
１９６０年代から現在までのヨーロッパの作家に的を絞り、版画をはじめ、書籍、雑誌、ポスター、レコードジャケット、壁紙などの様々なジャンルの印刷・出版物を紹介する。名刺や新聞の折り込み広告の様な小さな作品が多く展示デザイナー泣かせの様な気もするが、さすがモマ、大小実に様々で多彩な作品をテーマごとに、陳列ケースや壁面をうまく利用し明解な展示をする。

その一方で、作品が実に美術品然と並べられているように映るのが気になる所。また、ヨーロッパ各地からの収集というが、その中でも目をひくのは、ドイツ人アーティストのボイス、キーファー、リヒター、ポルケ等の作品、そして大きなスペースを割かれているフランス人のビュレンのインスタレーション。戦後の現代美術の特徴の一つは、ハイ・アートに対するアンチ・ムーブメント。そのヨーロッパに於ける流れを検証するのが本展の主眼でもあるが、
注目される作家の比重が大きく、せっかくの歴史的な視点からの総合的複合的なコレクションの意味が弱められた気がする。

１９７０年代、アートと日常生活の融合を唱え、アーティスト達は美術館、画廊を飛び出し日常的な生活の場面でパフォーマンスを行なった。例えばダニエル・スポエッリ（ルーマニア出身）は、レストランでお客の食べ残し作品を制作した。本展では彼の名前入りのこぎれいなメニュー、レストランカードが謙虚に並ぶのみ。ダダ展の後だからだろうか、それぞれのアーティスト達の息吹を伝える様なドキュメント写真やビデオを用意する等、美術館の部門を超えた展示もあってよかったのではと感じてしまう。カタログはしかし、６０年代から現代までの多くの記録写真も網羅し貴重な資料となりそうだ。（Yoko
