本展は、１９９０年以降のファッション写真における、映画とスナップショットの影響を探る展覧会。

ティナ・バーニー（Tina Barney）, フィリップ・ロルカ・ディコルシア（Philip-Lorca diCorcia）,ナン・ゴールディン（ Nan Goldin）, シンディー・シャーマン（Sindy Sherman）, グレン・ラッシュフォード（Glen Luchford） など何らかの形で、雑誌あるいは、広告等で、ファッションに関係をもつフォトグラファー１３人の約１００点の作品で構成される。

ファッションフォトグラフィーは映画の手法を取り入れることによって、ファッションに内在する演劇性を拡大させた。セドリック・プーシェ(Cedric Buchet),　ディコルシア　や　ラッシュフォード　は映画のライティングやカメラアングル、そして、登場人物のサイコロジカル、エモーショナルな設定等を、あたかも現代の不安や緊張、そして矛盾を物語るかのように写真の中に取り込んだ。

ファッションフォトグラフィーは素人写真、いわゆるスナップショットやファミリーフォトの持つ日常性を取り入れることによって、それまでのファッションのアイディアルな世界からはなれた。ゴールディンやラリー・サルタン(Larry Sultan) の写真には、アマチュア写真への共感と信頼がみられる。しかし、彼等の作品にはアマチュア写真の”日常”はない。そのかわり、現実と虚構のはざまに揺れ動く、イメージとしての”日常”がある。それは視覚的には明らかではなく、示唆するものとして展開され、見る者の記憶にふれながら新たな“日常”のイメージをつくりだす。
